Classroom Setup Instructions
Classroom layout
Hardware
File Server
- ONE file server is required in the classroom.
- This server will be used to store and serve files during the hands-on labs.
- This system should have a decent hardware configuration like at least
- Pentium IV or faster CPU.
- 512MB RAM
- 10GB Free Disk Space
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Accessible USB Port
- DVDROM Drive
Workstations
- ONE workstation system is required PER attendee.
- Attendees will use the workstation to perform the hands-on labs.
- This system should have a decent hardware configuration like at least
- Pentium IV or faster CPU.
- 512MB RAM
- 10GB Free Disk Space
- Gigabit Ethernet
Switch
- ONE Network Switch is required in the classroom
- The switch will be used to network the workstations and the file server together.
- Gigabit Ethernet Switch is required
- NO 802.11 (Wireless) networks in the classroom
- NO Hubs
- NO cascaded switches
Software
Attendee Workstation
- Windows Vista with latest Service Pack
- OS MUST be activated or MUST be in activation grace period throughout the duration of the course.
- No other software is required on the file server.
- All other software required during the hands-on labs will be installed by the attendees as a part of the lab exercises.
- Administrator Password for workstation MUST be known.
File Server
- Windows 2000/2003 Server with latest Service Pack
- Windows Workstation/ Professional i.e. Client edition cannot be used as it restricts the number of simultaneous connections
- OS MUST be activated or MUST be in activation grace period for the entire duration of the course.
- Administrator Password for workstation MUST be known.
- No other software is required on the file server.
Networking
Network Configuration
- Attendee workstations should be able to map a drive to file share on the file server.
- All systems (fileserver and workstations) MUST have a DHCP assigned IP address.
- Access to company's private corporate network is NOT required in the classroom.
- Classroom Systems are not required to be a part of a domain or forest.
- Instructor's laptop need NOT have network access to comply with corporate policies.
Internet Access
- Internet Access MUST available in the classroom.
- All systems (fileserver and workstations) MUST have access to the internet.
Audio / Video Equipment
Video Projector
- ONE video projector is required in the classroom.
- Minimum resolution of 1024 x 768
- Projector Cable MUST be long enough to connect projector to instructor's laptop.
- Remote Control for video projector MUST be available in the classroom
Microphone System
- Audio Amplification system is preferable but not required.
- Cordless Microphone should be available.
- Microphone should be of clip-on not handheld type.
- Spare microphone batteries should be available
Miscellaneous
Presentation
- Clean White Board ( should not be obscured by projection screen)
- NO Flip Charts
- White Board Markers (2 different colors)
- New Whiteboard Eraser
- Adequate classroom lighting to enable attendees to see the projection screen, read their course handouts and take notes at the same time.
- Instructor WILL be proving his/her own laptop for running the presentation
